Equity‐based crowdfunding platform for food and beverage startups launches in the United Kingdom

LOGHILondon – CrowdFooding is an equity‐based crowdfunding platform thatconnects food and beverage entrepreneurs with investors. It aims to leverage the disruptive power of the Internet to make early‐stage investing for financiers, and fundraising for food and beverage startup companies, easy and immediate. Italian entrepreneur Alessio D’Antino, who has years of international marketing experience in the food and beverage realm, founded the platform in late 2014 with the support of You Can Group (YCG), a dynamic food innovation and communication enterprise led by serial entrepreneurs Andrea Magelli and Sara Roversi. They also operate the Future Food Institute (FFI), an international trust that aims to promote the growth of young entrepreneurs and food innovators capable of generating positive impact on the future of food.
Crowdfooding uses a specialised match‐making system with an innovative proprietary algorithm to
curate investor deal‐flow and suggest investment opportunities based on personal portfolio focus and interests. To help food entrepreneurs identify the most relevant investors for their ventures,
Crowdfooding has developed a comprehensive online database that captures some of the most active investors in the food and beverage sector and all food‐related investments they have completed.
An Advisory Committee specialised in VC financing, business analysis, technology, consumer packaged goods and nutrition has been put in place to help select the best funding matches (companies) for Crowdfooding’s investor network. This along with the investment match‐making algorithm allows for a curated platform and higher promise for both startups and investors.
While working at a San Francisco‐based accelerator as Marketing Manager and Business Developer,
Alessio met a number of food entrepreneurs who were struggling to raise funds to build their
ventures. Realising food and beverage startups were going to play a more crucial role in the
innovation space, Alessio was determined to provide them with easier access to capital for their
initiatives, and thus Crowdfooding was born.
The platform is determined to support food entrepreneurs find the best funding matches and enable innovation as well as strategic collaboration among startups, investors and corporations in order to solve some of the big issues that our food system is currently facing.
